Scouting with Troop 1000 is all about fun. Yet, it is also about using this fun to teach life skills — leadership, ethics, and more.
Robert Baden Powell, founder of the Scouting movement had it right when he said, “Scouting is a big game, a fun game, but a game with a purpose.”
On the other hand he also understood how to deliver ownership of the program to the boys with the belief that if, "…a boy can do it, an adult should not."
From this premise, the adult leadership at Troop 1000 works to bring the young men in the organization to independence and true self-reliance as they progress through the advancement program.
This "boy-lead" concept, the goal of every Troop, enables young men to lead, make decisions, budget and plan for events. It is through these experiences they gain a greater understanding of themselves.
Founded in 1992, Troop 1000 is the largest and most active Boy Scout Troop in it's District.
